The University Arena - The University Arena, located in the University of Limerick campus, on the picturesque banks of the river Shannon, is proud to be Ireland's largest indoor sports complex. Open since 2002, it comprises of; The National 50m Swimming Pool, The National Strength and Conditioning Centre, an International 400m athletics Track, a 4 court sports hall and over 70 acres of outdoor sports pitches among much more.
The University Arena is now renowned across Ireland, Europe and the USA as the most modern and extensive sports complex currently available for training and competition needs. Incorporating all its facilities within a 800m radius, the moment you arrive everything you require is available to you without having to leave the campus. Whatever sport you are involved in, the facilities are there to allow you train and enjoy yourself to whatever level required.
Thomond Park - From project launch to official launch - almost 600 days and €40million later and one of the country's most renowned sporting venues is open for business. Since the unveiling of the design for the redevelopment of Thomond Park on the 27th May 2006, rugby supporters have eagerly monitored the building progress of the stadium that has changed the skyline in Limerick forever. Now the province has a multi-purpose stadium facility to rival any modern stadia across Europe and one everyone is justifiably proud of.
In addition to the many great rugby occasions anticipated for Thomond Park Stadium a wide range of new initiatives have also been launched such as the Stadium Tour, the Interactive Munster Rugby Visitor Experience, the Munster Rugby Store, the Munster Walk and on site catering facilities. The Stadium has a total of 14 bars and refreshment outlets to cater for the 26,000 capacity crowds while the new Conference and Banqueting facilities can cater for in excess of 500 people depending on the style of event.
